The Bass Rock Golf Club is the original Artisan Section of North Berwick West Links. Founded in 1873 the club has a unique history in the town which is covered in Douglas Seaton’s excellent book, Bass Rock Golf Club: The First 125 Years. This book is out of print but the club has a few copies that can be borrowed. The club is limited by constitution to 125 members in two classes: The 10 FULL members have full playing rights the West links. The 115 DUAL memberships are from members of North Berwick and Tantallon Golf Clubs. In July of every year Bass Rock GC hosts The Esmond Trophy. This gent’s open is played over the West Links. An 18 hole qualifying medal is followed by a 32 player knock out for the Silver Trophy which is a scale model of Edinburgh Castle.
