Egypt is one of the best-value winter-sun golf destinations within a short flight of Europe. The golf clusters around the Red Sea resorts — Hurghada, El Gouna, Soma Bay and Makadi Bay — where championship courses sit between desert mountains and the sea, and the sun shines almost every day of the year.
Green fees and packages are noticeably cheaper than Dubai or the Algarve, the all-inclusive resorts are geared to golfers, and the water sports and diving make it an easy sell for a mixed group or family. Cairo adds a couple of quality courses if you want to combine golf with the Pyramids.
It is a relaxed, sunshine-and-value destination rather than a links-purist's pilgrimage — but the courses are genuinely good, and few places give you this much guaranteed warmth for the money.

When to go
October to April is prime — warm, dry and comfortable for a full round. Midsummer is extremely hot; if you go, play at dawn and rest through the afternoon.
