Torrance House Golf Club is located on the Southern edge of East Kilbride, close to the A726 (East Kilbride to Strathaven Road) with good access and vehicle parking. The club was stablished in 1969 is located next to the attractive buildings of Torrance House itself, a 15th Century Tower House which forms the focal point of the park and golf course. Torrance House Golf Club is a private club run attached to Torrance House Golf Course. The Country Park, Golf Course and Clubhouse share the same access and parking facilities which feature high quality landscaping and gardens.
Hamilton Golf Club
The club was founded in 1892 and occupied ground, called the Barniehall Field, near to Hamilton Racecourse. The club began life with a membership of 120 and this has grown in the intervening years to current membership of 500 full members. Following numerous issues with drainage and subsidence, due to mining works at the original site, the club was relocated to its current home, in grounds owned by the Duke of Hamilton, at Riccarton (known as the High Parks). Originally, the course was leased from the Duke of Hamilton’s estate, and this arrangement continued for many years. However, discussions continued throughout the period, with a view to Hamilton GC purchasing the ground. Strathclyde Park golf course is one of the most popular municipal courses in the Glasgow area and is unique in that it is surrounded on one side by a racecourse and a nature reserve on the other. The course is full of character and is well noted among Glasgow golfers for its small greens, which can be tricky to stay on. The fourth is perhaps the signature hole, where a drive downhill must avoid out-of-bounds to the right. The hole then doglegs right around a small copse.
