Welcome to our website and thank you for taking the time to visit it. The course is set in the hills above Beith, in North Ayrshire, and the Club dates back to 1896. From then until 1996 it was a 9 hole course, however in that year, the centenary, a new 9 holes were opened giving us 18 holes in line with the other clubs in the area. In 2018 because of the general downturn in golf, it was decided to revert to the old 9 holes to see if we can keep the club going on for the foreseeable future. We are pleased to announce that this was a successful move and the Club continues to flourish. The Kyles of Bute Golf Club has a rich history founded in 1907. We have a hilly moorland course consisting of nine intriguing holes all with magnificent views of the Kyles of Bute, Arran and Loch Fyne. There are no bunkers, but there are burns, punitive rough, and long carries over heather, whin and blind holes to keep you on your toes. The first hole is only 110-yards, but you have to approach vertically to carry the Dooley Moolachs, stone and heather outcrops before the green. Everyone loves to play from the ninth, 'Cnoc', poised 200 feet above the water of the Kyles at your back. You are trying to get to a green that is below you and across the burn. It is 170-yards away and most of the time you are playing into the prevailing westerly wind.

They started competing in April and played throughout the year in a round-robin matchplay league. At the first Annual Business and Social meeting held in the clubhouse on December 29th, 1909, the members decided to continue their successful venture under the new name of Troon St Meddans Golf Club. The cumulative sweep, which was adopted, was paid out at the end of the year during the meeting. Undoubtedly, the primary driving force behind the establishment of St. Meddans was Mr. James C. The West Kilbride Golf Club is situated on the Ayrshire coast, with spectacular views across the Firth of Clyde to the beautiful island of Arran. A championship links course which benefits from its location on the west coast, giving mild winters and all year round playing conditions. The Club is proud to have been selected as the host venue for the 2023 R&A Senior's Home Internationals as well as the 2025 Scottish Boys' Championship. The course itself is built on a narrow strip of coastal land, bordered on one side by agricultural land and on the other by the beach. Out of Bounds comes into play in 12 of the holes encouraging straight hitters. The course is generally flat but has many undulations. This, when combined with the sea breezes, adds considerably to the challenge.
